Terre des hommes is looking for a proactive, energetic, and organised Community Outreach Officer who speaks , to join the teams in Bucharest, to support in the implementation of CASTLE2 project. The ideal candidate has experience in in community outreach, social work, or migrant/refugee support.

ROLE DESCRIPTION 

Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the Community Outreach Officer will support the implementation of the Castle 2 project by engaging directly with Bangladeshi migrant communities, ensuring their meaningful participation across all four work packages. The role is essential for building trust with community members, disseminating information, facilitating empowerment activities, and linking beneficiaries with institutional protection and support mechanisms.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Management & Coordination

  • Contribute to planning, monitoring, and reporting of community-level activities.
  • Provide regular feedback from Bangladeshi communities to project management for adaptive decision-making.
  • Support documentation of lessons learned, good practices, and risks from fieldwork.

Knowledge and Capacity Building

  • Participate and translate in MGS and You Create sessions, and in information sessions related to anti-discrimination, rights, and protection.
  • Facilitate coordination between community members and professionals (law enforcement, NGOs, service providers).

Migrant Rights Awareness & Empowerment

  • Lead outreach and mobilization of Bangladeshi migrant workers for empowerment events and rights-awareness sessions.
  • Deliver sessions (in English and/or other languages) on topics such as discrimination, labor rights, reporting mechanisms, and access to services.
  • Support the development and dissemination of localized awareness materials (leaflets, videos, digital resources) tailored to Bangladeshi communities.

Public Awareness & Advocacy Campaigns

  • Facilitate the participation of Bangladeshi migrants in storytelling initiatives (“Family Albums”, video campaigns, cultural exchange events).
  • Act as a cultural mediator to ensure accurate and respectful representation of Bangladeshi migrants in media products and events.
  • Assist with community mobilization for high-visibility events such as the sport/cultural events.
  • Support monitoring of campaign impact within the Bangladeshi community.
Profilul candidatului

YOUR PROFILE 

  • At least 1 year of professional experience in community outreach, social work, or migrant/refugee support.
  • Proven experience working with South Asian migrant communities.
  • Proven experience in interpretation and translation.
  • Strong facilitation skills: experience in rights-awareness or empowerment programs preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills in Bengali and English (oral and written); knowledge of Romanian language or other South Asian languages is an asset.
  • Familiarity with anti-discrimination frameworks, migrant labor rights, and EU integration policies.
  • Cultural sensitivity and ability to work inclusively with diverse communities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and rapport with marginalized groups.
  • Commitment to human rights, gender equality, and non-discrimination.
  • Availability to travel within project areas for outreach activities.
