Terre des hommes resumes the fight against child trafficking

In 2025 we resume the intervention in the prevention of child trafficking. Terre des hommes Romania will develop prevention and protection services in communities and schools, in collaboration with ANPDCA, the Border Police, DIICOT, ANITP and using trauma-based practices and principles and child-centred approaches. We will be part of the consortium coordinated by World Vision Romania, which also includes FONPC, eLiberare, VeDem Just and Code for Romania.

Part of the intervention will involve early identification, reporting and referral mechanisms that are survivor-centred, reduce vulnerability and prevent trafficking. We will also sensitize communities to risk contexts and inform them of ways of immediate protection and support.

Laura Sava-Ghica, Country Director Terre des Hommes Foundation in Romania, participated today in the ceremony where Ambassador Kathleen Kavalec, together with Minister Mihai Alexandru Ghigiu, head of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister of Romania, signed the Framework Partnership on Child Protection (CPC), on a duration five years. The Minister of Internal Affairs, Cătălin Predoiu, also participated in the ceremony. This partnership will bring up to 10 million dollars in foreign assistance from the US, an amount intended to strengthen the efforts of the Romanian government and civil society organizations in combating child trafficking and in developing an effective system of justice, prosecution, protection and prevention.

Previously, Tdh had joined the fight against child trafficking in 2005.
