Terre des hommes Foundation Romania and JRS Romania organized a round table within the STEP IN project with the aim of adapting the PM+ (Problem Management) methodology for professionals providing mental health services for refugees, asylum seekers and other categories affected by forced migration in Romania. During the discussions, ways of integrating the PM+ methodology into the national mental health system were identified and an assessment of existing mental health services at national level was carried out.
The meeting was attended by professionals from various organisations working with potential beneficiaries of the PM+ methodology, including key decision makers such as WHO and UNHCR Romania. In terms of emergency response in relation to several types of migrants, national authorities and other national and international private organisations provided psychosocial support services.
Thus, intervention programmes with mental health services were created, with a focus on war trauma. This is why, through PM+ (Problem Management +), the STEP-IN project aims to involve several types of specialists in providing psychosocial support to Ukrainian refugees in Romania. These will include community assistants, cultural mediators, social workers, coaches, educators and animators.
