Gender-based violence should not be hidden – campaign

hid

The Terre des Hommes Foundation Romania launches the "Hidden pain is still pain" campaign, addressed to children and young migrants from Romania who face gender violence in the family or in their host community. The campaign, carried out within the European BRIDGE project by Creionetica Agency, aims to promote healthy relationships, non-violent communication, respect and gender equality through a series of creative tools that can be found on the Instagram page, @ Bridge.for.equality.

Gender-based violence is an action against the will of a person (child or adult), simply because that person is considered weaker due to his/her gender. In general, violence is accompanied by shame and guilt, so that the victim feels less able to get up and speak. Through this campaign, we want to help young people realize that silence or denying reality is not a solution, and will only lead to greater suffering .

The call of the campaign is Let's #unhidethepain! and it invites dialogue, offers information and seeks to fight against suffering. The campaign is bilingual in English and Arabic, and is addressed especially to children and young migrants from countries such as Afghanistan, Somalia, Iraq, Syria, Iran or Bangladesh, as well as to all young people in Romania who face gender violence.

The @ Bridge.for.equality Instagram page features useful information about gender-based violence, contact details for victims seeking help, and support materials for victims' specialists.

The general knowledge test invites children and young people to check and develop their knowledge about gender violence on the Facebook Messenger chat of the Terre des Hommes Romania organization.

The series of podcasts on Gender Violence invited five expert women, teachers and / or human rights activists to talk about what we need to know about gender violence that affects children, especially migrants. The podcasts are addressed to both social professionals and members of the general public, who would like to understand the phenomenon. They can be heard on the following channels: Soundcloud, Spotify and the YouTube channel of Terre des hommes Romania, at these links:
