WHAT WE DO

Terre des hommes (Tdh) is the leading Swiss organisation for children’s aid. Since 1960, Tdh has helped build a better future for children and youth, especially those most exposed to risks, making an impact with innovative and sustainable solutions. Active in more than 40 countries, Tdh works with its own teams and/or local and international partners to develop and implement field projects which significantly improve the daily lives of over four million children and members of their communities every year, with a focus on mother and child health, migration, and access to justice for children.

In Romania, Terre des hommes has been active since 1992. For the past few years, the delegation has been working on three main intervention areas: Strengthening child protection and juvenile justice systems, Protection of children affected by migration/trafficking, and social inclusion of minorities.

Descrierea rolului
  • Organises psychosocial, non-formal education, sport, cultural and recreational activities for target children and youth according to the context and strategy of Tdh (small groups or large groups)
  • Defines the activities to be implemented according to the children’s age and situation
  • Involves and communicates to parents as needed
  • Promote, ensure and set children as a central actor in the activities
  • Identifies within the activities the children that need further assistance
  • Assists in the coordination and delivery of child-friendly events and activities
  • Organises joint events for children from various communities for child integration and harmonisation
  • Liases with potential recreational activities service providers and supervises activities implemented by Tdh
  • Links the child, their family and community with child protection resources and networks of support
  • Ensure a safe and child-friendly atmosphere within the Child Friendly Space.
  • Conduct a daily visual assessment of the children and ensure a variety of structured games and activities within the Child Friendly Space, catering to the needs of children of different ages, genders, and abilities.
  • Ensure that children feel comfortable, safe, and respected.
  • Ensure that all games and equipment are accounted for and stored securely at the end of the day
  • Screen for and monitor protection needs and gaps in and around the Child Friendly Space
  • Keep the eyes open and identify if there is any Child protection issue to rise.
  • Identify the CP incidents if any and inform and immediately report it to Child Protection team leader.
Profilul candidatului

Requirements:

  • University degree in social sciences represents a strong advantage, or special psychoeducation
  • Good skills in working with children, preferably at least one year of experience;
  • At leat 3 years of previous experience in working with children with special educational needs
  • Experience in working with vulneable groups represents a strong advantage
  • Ability to observe well and to identify more withdrawn children who do not make friends and to involve them in activities
  • Empathy for the situation of the refugee children and their families, discretion, diplomacy
  • Ability to advise others;
  • Capacity to establish relations with a range of ages for children and youth
  • Communication skills and learning availability
  • Enthusiasm, energy
  • At least two of the following languages: Russian/Ukrainian, English, Romanian
  • Familiar with usual IT tools
